More Than Us - a play without words

Friday 23rd April
8:30pm
Adrian Boult Hall

More Than Us is the short-lived story of a young American soldier and an Iraqi girl who meet by the Euphrates River. Set against the backdrop of bassoon, strings and percussion, five dancers present the hopes dreamed and dashed when alliances are made across enemy lines.

Drawn from true stories reported in the English and American news and grown on the backbone of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, More Than Us is a contemporary, unique theatre work that throws light on aspects of war rarely uncovered.

This production of More Than Us is preceded by Lindsay Shakeshaft and Dan Watson, with the Linden Park Sinfonia, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto Nr. 3 in C minor, Op. 37, at 7pm. For tickets (£5/£3) call Birmingham Box Office on 0121 303 2323, or online at birminghamboxoffice.com

Between events, entertainment will be provided by the JJ Wheeler Trio. www.jjwheeler.co.uk

This student-devised project is supported in part by Birmingham Conservatoire (part of Birmingham City University).
